Water Sports in Bali Water Sports

Tanjung Benoa, a narrow peninsula stretching north from Nusa Dua, is Bali's undisputed water sports hub. The calm, sheltered waters of Benoa Bay make it ideal for motorised water activities that require flat conditions, from jet skiing and parasailing to banana boats and wakeboarding. Over a dozen licensed operators line the peninsula's beach, offering individual rides or combination packages that let you try multiple activities at a significant discount.

Parasailing is the most popular activity, lifting you 70 to 100 metres above the bay for sweeping views of the coastline, with flights lasting 3 to 5 minutes. Single and tandem options are available. Jet ski rides typically follow a set course in the bay for 15 minutes, reaching speeds of up to 60 km/h. Banana boat rides are a group favourite, seating 4 to 6 riders on an inflatable craft towed by a speedboat through the waves.

For a more unique experience, flyboarding uses water-propelled jet boots to lift you above the surface like a superhero. Sea walking lets you walk on the ocean floor wearing a special helmet that supplies air from the surface, no diving certification needed. You will walk among coral and tropical fish at depths of 3 to 6 metres, making it accessible even for non-swimmers.

Beyond Tanjung Benoa, other water sports opportunities exist across Bali. Sanur offers stand-up paddleboarding and kitesurfing on its calm reef-protected lagoon. Lembongan and Nusa Penida have crystal-clear conditions for kayaking and snorkeling. The main season for water sports is April to October when seas are calmest, though Tanjung Benoa operates year-round in its sheltered bay.
