About Ulun Danu & Bedugul Highlands
The Bedugul Highlands are Bali's cool mountain retreat — a region of crater lakes, cloud forests, and some of the island's most iconic temples. At its heart sits Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, the ethereal "floating temple" on Lake Bratan that graces Indonesia's 50,000 rupiah banknote.
The area sits at 1,200 metres elevation, where temperatures drop to a refreshing 18–22°C and mist rolls across the lake at dawn. Combined with the Bali Botanic Garden, traditional strawberry farms, and the spectacular Jatiluwih UNESCO rice terraces nearby, it's an essential highland day trip or overnight stay for every Bali itinerary.
